Thank you again for your interest and participation in Wascana Centre’s 2016 Master Plan. The public consultations held at Wascana Place in May and September were very successful and generated a number of great ideas for consideration.

On December 2nd, 2015 Wascana Centre Authority held an open house to present the 2016 ‘Draft Master Plan’.

Please see below for a quick reminder on the Master Plan purpose and process:

The Master Plan deals with the physical situation and gives guidance about the quality of future development. It does not deal with everything that happens in the Centre. For example, it is not a maintenance plan, nor an operational or management plan.  It deals with what kinds of uses would be appropriate in the Centre, and where they should go – physical things such as buildings, landscape features, roads, paths, parking, gardens and fields. It also deals with where built facilities should NOT go; places reserved for open space and ecological protection.  It is not specific about when proposals may be implemented, although it can propose priorities. This should be borne in mind when making recommendations about what the plan should contain.

There are six components or phases to the process:

1) Updating the 2006 illustrated site plan and digital model with the amendments that have been made since then;

2) Understanding the aspirations, interests, wishes and proposals of the public stakeholders;

3) Exploring options for the future;

4) Preparing a draft plan;

5) Preparing a final plan;

6) Approval by the Wascana Centre Board of Directors.
