A monument commemorating pioneering women who founded education and healthcare in Saskatchewan was unveiled in Regina’s Wascana Centre close to Saskatchewan’s Legislative Grounds.

The installation honours Catholic Sisters, representing 61 different religious orders, who established local hospitals and classrooms across Saskatchewan before the province developed funding and delivery models for these vital public services.

The monument features two Catholic Sisters cast in bronze, one representing a teacher, the other a nurse. Saskatchewan. Catholic Connections coordinated the funding and installation of the monument and Prince Albert sculptor Jack Jensen was commissioned to create the work. The project was made possible thanks to the support of private donors, dioceses, religious communities and leading Catholic organizations across Saskatchewan.
