Wascana Centre Authority is committed to maintaining and enhancing the 2,300 acres that make up the Centre. Through planning, innovation and hard work, the staff at Wascana Centre is constantly working to ensure we remain one of the finest urban parks in North America.

Each Wednesday, Wascana Centre will highlight an area which has either been built or enhanced for the public to enjoy.

The area near the Spruce Island overlook is currently undergoing a minor facelift. The old drinking fountain has been removed and will be replaced with a bottle filling station that will be attached to the building just off the walking path.

In addition, the area will undergo some landscape work to ensure the aesthetic beauty remains consistent with the area.

Did you know about the ‘Better Place’ monument near the Spruce Island Overlook?

In 2002, Wascana Centre approached Douglas Park School to involve its students with developing a story about the lake edge and the water pipe near the Spruce Island Overlook.  Several students submitted stories and the final selection was developed by two student’s whose story is about four creatures and how they made this spot a better place.
